Introduction to Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course: Diagnostics and cadaver workshops

The American Sports Medicine Institute and the physicians from Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopeadic Center annually host an ultrasound course for fellow physicians in training and for physicians and health care professionals interested in learning about musculoskeletal ultrasound. We are honored to have additional faculty that specialize in MSK Ultrasound join us from other academic institutions. The objective of the course is to teach you the core competencies recommended by the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine for musculoskeletal ultrasound. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss basic ultrasound physics and terminology
  • Identify the indications for diagnostic ultrasound imaging and for ultrasound-guided procedures
  • Describe normal musculoskeletal anatomy and pathology in ultrasound images
  • Perform a musculoskeletal ultrasonographic evaluation of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle and foot.
  • Perform basic ultrasound guided interventional procedures of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle and foot.
